When US President Donald Trump declares the Strait of Hormuz “New US territory” (https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2026\/aug\/21\/trump-strait-of-hormuz-american-territory<\/a>) at the end of August, and after that,  Iranians call California a “new territory” of the Islamic Republic (https:\/\/caspianpost.com\/politics\/iran-labels-california-new-territory-following-trump-s-hormuz-post<\/a>), what do the two countries at war in  Persian Gulf actually do with the current geographical map of the world?<\/p>\n

Herald a new world? Provoke each other?…<\/p>\n

Various other answers are probably possible.<\/p>\n

For example, if the winner is establishing itself in a new territory after the successful conclusion of a certain conflict, then the geographical map valid until before that, is likely to undergo adaptation to the new reality. However, in the case of the Hormuz Strait “victory” does not seem to be in sight yet, for either of the involved parties.<\/p>\n
